The Appeti Tennis Academy wants to be able to offer young players the right facilities in a unique environment within which they can excel and meet their full sporting and academic potential.

Key facts

  • Maximum ventilation
  • Prefabricated structure
  • Quick to install

Project overview

In partnership with Canterbury High School, former tennis pro Eb Appeti chose to work with CopriSystems on the strength of our experience installing bespoke structures for single and multi-sports facilities for schools across the UK. Maximum usage and value for money were also critical in the decision – something which is helped by our long term hire options in addition to outright purchase.

Eb Appeti said : “As a privately owned centre cost was a big consideration as I was paying for the centre with my own money.  We took a lot of time visiting many structures from air-supported to traditional builds.  CopriSystems offered the best value for money with a great product.”

The tennis court covers we created to suit the specific needs of Appeti Tennis are made from a tensile membrane allowing natural light to flood the courts and hard-wearing material side walls which can be rolled up during warmer months to allow for maximum ventilation.

A unique approach to the curriculum

They have given pupils the opportunity to switch between coaching and academic lessons throughout a day which runs from 7.30am to 6pm. Core subjects such as Maths and English are taught at the nearby school, whilst coaching takes place throughout the year at the new indoor tennis centre.

While this may not be feasible for every school, it does highlight how having the right all-weather facilities on-hand can have a huge impact on the opportunities afforded to promising pupils without putting additional pressure on their academic work.

Eb Appeti commented: “Our programmes were hugely successful but would be affected by adverse weather in the winter… The structure has enabled us to grow our programmes and we use it to coach and develop tennis all year round.”

With the Appeti tennis centre going from strength to strength, it has attracted widespread interest from the media and more schools are now looking to invest in similar cost-effective facilities.  This is great news for sport and we look forward to seeing a new wave of British hopefuls at Wimbledon very soon.
