Sitting down to enjoy Euro 2020…..at long last…… it is clear that football has such a stronghold over so many of us, lifts spirits, breaks hearts but ultimately brings people together.  When Covid-19 pressed pause on grassroots football for some of this season, it was a huge loss for communities who rely so much on the beautiful game to bring them some relief from the daily grind.  For children, learning to be part of a team can be great for boosting communication skills and confidence and for older players it’s a chance to stay fit while spending time with mates.

So while this season was a bit stop-start, we probably enjoyed what there was to watch and appreciated it more than ever. This season also brought with it the added excitement for us of sponsoring our local team, The Stiffs.  District league clubs rely on local businesses to help fund team kit, employ coaches, keep pitches in good condition and attract new players so it was a privilege to be asked and see our logo on the shirts.  Along with additional financial support from three other sponsors, The Stiffs were also able to completely overhaul the look and feel of their club, which in turn gave the supporters and current players a boost.

Covid-related interruptions have not made it easy to activate our sponsorships to their full potential, but that is something which we are determined to change this year. We are incredibly thankful to CopriSystems for their backing – grassroots football simply wouldn’t survive without the generosity they have displayed.”

The passion, competition and emotion that sport brings can be both exhausting and exhilarating but being involved in sport is always a positive experience! We loved hearing about all their matches and overall The Stiffs had a positive season with some emphatic wins and thrilling losses.  They conceded less goals than in previous years and made huge strides forward to become a more competitive side, both in the division and Cup competitions.  After the third national lockdown, they proactively arranged an enthralling schedule of friendlies, which gave us some excellent football and a lot of joy in a tough few months.  We hope that England might do the same for us over the next few weeks!

Football is so important to so many and regardless of which team you support, be it at national, premiership or local league level, we are lost without it!  We cannot wait for it to start all over again in what will hopefully be an uninterrupted 2021/22 campaign and with another very stylish new kit!
