Docklands Stadium, alternatively known as the Telstra Dome and currently sponsored by Etihad, was one of the first stadiums in the world where cricket was played under a retractable roof.  The first one day cricket match was held in this setting in 2000 and a host of additional games were played there over the following years too.  It was hoped that more stadiums would follow the trend so matches could take place regardless of the weather, but it failed to catch on.

Cricket domes are now used primarily for training, whilst the majority of matches continue to be held outdoors.  There are some indoor pitches, but again these are more likely to be used for training rather than competitive play.  The reason for this is that the outdoors offers different conditions for players and the weather is part of the tradition.  Indoor cricket is typically faster too, so the setting is better for honing skills.

Another reason why cricket is still primarily played outside is that setting up indoor facilities can be expensive.  Fortunately, at CopriSystems we specialise in protective structures for sports facilities, and we strive to offer the most cost effective solution for all kinds of playing surfaces.  We create temporary buildings, cricket covers and a wide range of other structures for many different sports including football and tennis.

Our cricket domes are bespoke and suitable for all kinds of layouts.  They can shelter two or four lane pitches as well as all practise nets, keeping the surfaces and equipment protected from the weather.  The fact that they keep conditions stable means they can be used for play all year round.  Added lighting allows players to use the pitch in the darker months or at night when there is no natural light available.

Clients can rely on us to support them throughout their project, from designing the structure, layout and playing surface to constructing it.  We are highly professional and place great stock in offering the best customer service and value for money.  We use specially selected materials to provide durable solutions that will provide long term service.  For more information please contact us; we will be happy to answer any questions about constructing new facilities or regenerating existing ones.
